sweetheart Devdas, (Shah Rukh Khan) the son of a lawyer and landowner.
While the love the two share is legendary, Devdas' family object
to the alliance on the basis that Paro hails from a family of
entertainers, and she is married instead, at her mother's behest,
to the elderly widower Zamindar Bhuvan (Vijayendra Ghatge).
As the dejected
Devdas sinks into despair over his lost love, he becomes acquainted
with a courtesan named Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit) She in turn
